Get excited – there are many options for you to make money with your site

Get excited because this is the point when it starts to get real! Monetizing is a fun topic because this is it — this is where you make the money. This is how you can start seeing dollars go up in your bank account if you do it properly. Do it poorly and you waste your time and effort. You may have everything else set up, but if you have no way of monetizing your setup then you will not make money period. Read more how to set up a monetization strategy.

Monetization is my favorite topic. This is where you see the dollar signs and you make your dream come true of making money online. In the beginning you have this vague sense that you want to make money online but don’t know where to even start. But this is the point when you should get really excited because you will learn some of the real sources of how to truly make money online.

Choosing from the many revenue sources – choose the right revenue source for you

Many people get stuck at this point because of the sheer amount of options available to you. There is affiliate products you can promote, you can create your own product whether that is physical or digital, you can do traffic arbitrage, you can invest or trade stocks or even cryptos, you can sell ad space, and so on. There are so many ways to make money online. It doesn’t sound real but it is.

Because there are literally so many, I personally got stuck with the shiny syndrome. This is where you see something new to you and it looks like an amazing way to earn passive income. But reality is that each method of monetization takes a really really long time. What you want to do is pick one or two and stick to them until you actually make it real. Real as in you actually see the money trickling into your bank account.

This feeling is amazing. I remember the first time I saw the numbers in my own bank account rise up. This feeling is addicting because it makes you realize that this is real. It is not just hopes and dreams anymore but it is real life. And it makes you want to do more and earn more and motivates you to work even harder.

My personal choice for source of revenue

Now, I will not tell you what to do and how to choose how you monetize your content and traffic. What I will tell you is how I did it, because I know it works since I have done it before.

I have done it primarily through ad revenue, and secondarily through affiliate marketing (but not the affiliate marketing that you may be familiar with).

Further down the line I plan to generate even more revenue through sales of my own digital products such as with courses. You may have already noticed products are up for sale on this site. That is on purpose and it sets up the site to earn through my own products. This way gives you more flexibility and control in things like pricing and types of promotion you allow.

But for the purpose of this guide, I would like to focus on making money with ad revenue.

Ad revenue – the easy revenue source

Displaying ads is a very popular way to make money online. And this is for good reason because it is so easy. You just put a line of code or plugin into your website after you sign up to an ad network then you start seeing profits. But which ad revenue source should you choose since there are so many?

Ad revenue sources include: Adsense, Media.net, PropellerAds, Ezoic, MediaVine, Adthrive, and the list goes on and on. The previous section on creating original content comes into play here. In order to be approved to monetize using these ad revenue sources then you are going to want to have original high-quality content in your website. If they spot that you have spammy or duplicate content, then they most likely will not approve you.

That is not to say though that there are no ad revenue networks that do not approve you easily. Media.net in particular has easy requirements and qualifying with them is pretty simple. In fact the process was so smooth that made fall in love with making money through ad revenue and Media.net was my first love. It was the first time I saw real money coming in at a stable pace and it was with Media.net.

But that comes with disadvantages of course. Being easily qualified for an ad network most likely means that the amount of money you will make from that ad network is not that much compared to those networks who are more selective.

Affiliate marketing platforms that are amazing and established are: JVZoo, Clickbank, and WarriorPlus, among others. The list goes on but these are what come up to mind.

Warning: Be careful with the Shiny-Object Syndrome

There is something now called as the Shiny-Object Syndrome and it is named this way because people looking to make money online especially if they are beginners are bombarded with a lot of money-making methods. They get overwhelmed trying to pick one and sticking to it. Firstly because there are so many. And secondly because they do not have personal experience yet whether these methods work so they have doubt. In the second case, they need to experiment with the method firsthand until they get results and see for themselves with their own eyes until they start to believe that it is a proven and profitable model.

I think this may be your problem as a beginner as well and I believe it is most people’s problem when starting out. I know it was my problem starting out. At the beginning, people are drawn to business so they can have an easier life. Money, people think, will make their lives easier. Many people are looking for easy push button riches and don’t want the hard work of experimenting for themselves. From personal experience, I learned a lot from different courses, products, and free info and did my own experiments to see if they really truly worked with my own eyes.

Even if I tell you I bought the method from a product and it worked for me, you would still not believe. You need to learn it and experiment with it yourself to see the results for your own eyes.

I tried using the instructions just as said in the course, but found that if I did it didn’t fit my style of working or it required something that didn’t fit with my current knowledge and understanding or ethics. So the best thing I found is learn the principles behind the courses and created my own methods that fits me and works for me. I did this all through trial and error and ended up with something workable but that is only after a lot of hard work.

Get rid of the perception of push button easy riches otherwise you will be prey to unscrupulous marketers. Accept that making money requires hard work, especially at the beginning, no matter what anyone tries to sell you. Everyone has to work, the janitor, the cashier, the president of a company, a business owner, the president of the United States, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, everyone. So don’t think you’re special that you can get rich quick without lifting a finger just by following some course instructions.

Follow one method or business model you like and think you will stick to working hard on for a very long time and experiment for yourself long enough to see results whether the results are positive or negative, and by long enough I mean as in months and years.

Notice I highlighted experimenting for yourself because that is ultimately what you need to end up doing even after buying the courses and products no matter what.

Conclusion

Of course there is much more to learn about this topic and you an encouraged to read and learn even more. Other things you need to pick up and master are creating unique, useful content on your site, and generating lots of profitable traffic to your site. These are topics for another discussion, so feel free to look around this site for sources of information to fill your knowledge gap and get you making even more money today.
